I have often wondered whether there was any link between the two. Actually, I conjured there must be. And if there wasn’t I was going to make up one.. so here we go!
I have had a few inspired moments sipping away at a cuppa, pen and paper in hand or now in the digital era with my phone and typing away, either writing a piece for this blog or posting something quirky to my Instagram.
Now, before we get too lost in my little space, does coffee really inspire creativity? Could there be a connection between the two?
Well as always, I will not give you what Oxford University or what the Stanford-ites have researched and written on the subject. I will share however some thoughts that make a case for this universal addiction of choice.
To start with, I pinged uncle Google, and stumbled on something called coffitivity.com – this instantly became the background setting for this piece dedicated to the #CreativeMondays community. The sounds and noises in the background chatting away in a coffee shop certainly did it for me. They provided an inspired plank, the buzz and sense of life in the background conjured the experience when you step into an aunthetic coffee shop. I simply couldn’t get enough of those sounds. In fact the idea of Coffitivity is to provide the right mix of noise for creativity to thrive, right from your living room or desktop at work! Give it a try, am curious how you will find it!
So does coffee ignite the magical spark?
The much I gathered from Uncle Google seems to suggest that Coffee is a good friend as far as stamina generation. It gives you that energy to focus at least. I certainly could do with an energy booster or a wake me up on a booster – of course #CreativeMondays in itself is motivation enough to want to wake up and change the world through creativity. Thanks to all the #CreativeMondays community who bring it on every week. You guys rock!
The aroma of coffee is yet another magic thing; there is something just about the smell of coffee that stirs up the senses and inspires a feel good effect which is good for creativity. Ooh, I love to be around where they roast those beans. It is a utopian experience in some cases. You could never ignore the coffee aroma!
Other nuances about coffee are works of art in themselves – the blending of coffee, the various tastes of it, and the barista process; there is so much creativity that goes into making a proper cuppa.
Coffee is always a perfect excuse for those who are dating, or when you need to catch up with friends. It makes for opportunities for collaboration and creativity, whether personal or business. Coffee is that good friend to have by your side when you are hacking away at an assignment that requires you to burn the midnight oil. Its efficacy for getting some of us awake and alive cannot be gainsaid. Of course you are fore warned on indulgence – I don’t want Dr Oz or Oprah coming after me for inducting you into the religion of coffee.
Finally, I’m always inspired by the Barista efforts to make the excellent cuppa. Be it a Cappuccino, an Americano, a Latte or a Mocha, the passion, dedication and the buzz at my favourite coffee joint has been a booster for my creative self especially on a Monday. Often, I would take away a cuppa and keep by my side as I type away from my desk. It is one of my occasional rituals, and I have written a tad many quotes on coffee as a result, one which I share below.
Come to think of it, I believe coffee is more powerful than oil whereas the later drives your car’s engine coffee drives you and has the power to keep you awake in those boring meetings you have to attend ~ #Timspirational #PowerofCoffee! #CreativeMondays!
Wishing you all a coffee inspired Creative Monday!
