Relationships Thursday: Why Don’t You Love Me?

*There was a boy she loved painfully through two school semesters. Months
later she told me how she had taken pennies from my purse to buy him candy.
” Licorice  was his favourite and I bought him some everyday, but he still
liked Jennifer better. Why, mommy?” The kind of question for which there is
no answer *

*…Is it the way I wear my hair, just tell me the truth. boy, I don’t
care. Look at me as I am, I just don’t understand. Tell me why, why why ,
why don’t you love me the way I need to be loved? I keep trying….*

*Zora Neale Hurston *I had a conversation with a lady a few days ago who is in love with a man
who doesn’t feel the same way. Unrequited love can really hurt one to the
core especially after you’ve done everything to win them over. The sad part
is that this lady still hopes that this man will change his mind and see
how cute she is and they will live happily ever after. I’m a hopeless
romantic but even I know better than to beat a dead horse. At least the guy
had the decency to tell her right off the bat instead of stringing her
along then later pull the cold-distant-and-unavailable treatment to get rid
off her.

There are many reasons why somebody may not fall in love with you. Maybe
there is no connection and they’re not attracted to you like that. Maybe
they see you as a friend and nothing more. Maybe they are also busy pinning
after another person.

He might not be ready for the kind of love you wanna offer. Most of the
time when a man doesn’t love you it has nothing to do with you.Think of
that time in the past when someone tried wooing you and you didn’t feel them
at all no matter how hard you both tried. there was nothing wrong with them but
you just felt that there was a certain je ne sais quoi missing. Put
yourself in the other person’s shoe. Its not fun turning somebody down.

He may actually be looking for different and not better. The best thing is
to accept and move on (yeah I hate that phrase too). You cant make somebody
love you. Changing your hair, your religion, your friends and your pirnciples won’t make him love you.

Losing weight, putting on make up, changing your wardrobe is pointless.
Taking out loans for strange men and buying stuff sure will not get you anything but contempt from the object of your affection.
If he don’t love you by now, as Ciara sang, he never ever will. Quit breaking your back to win over someone who doesn’t love you one bit!

You cant buy love,that’s prostitution.LOL.
Nobody owes you love. It should be given freely.
So why doesn’t he love you? I think the question is why does he have to
love you? I loved what author  Zadie smiths wrote in her book about love when the
character Irie fell in love with someone who couldn’t love her back…

Its a funny thing about the modern world. You hear girls in the toilets of
clubs saying, “Yeah, he fucked off and left me. He didn’t love me. He just
couldn’t *deal* with love. He was too fucked up to know *how* to love me.”
Now, how did that happen? What was it about this unlovable century that
convinced us we were, despite everything, eminently lovable as a people, as
a species? What made us think that anyone who fails to love us is damaged,
lacking, *malfunctioning* in some way? And particularly if they replace us
with a god, or a weeping madonna, or the face of Christ in a ciabatta
roll—then we call them crazy. Deluded. Regressive. We are so convinced of
the goodness of ourselves, and the goodness of our love, we cannot bear to
believe that there might be something more worthy of love than us, more
worthy of worship. Greeting cards routinely tell us everybody deserves
love. No. Everybody deserves clean water. Not everybody deserves love all
the time.”
― Zadie Smith  -White Teeth
*It doesn’t really matter why he doesn’t love you. Just let it go. There is
another man out there who is gonna love you just the way you are. In the
mean time keep being your awesome self and stop asking yourself stupid
questions like “why don’t you love me?” *
