Creative Mondays: 5 Tips, Nay Ideas on How to be Creative

Get started
Just start! Don’t wait for another day to begin – in fact today is the perfect day to get started and #CreativeMondays is here to urge you on to get started without delay! Without a doubt, the only way to unlock the creative flow is by getting started.  Whatever your creative expression or orientation ‘start to be by doing’ and there is no better time to start like NOW! The simple mantra ‘writers write, painters paint…  et cetera’ comes to play here. So get started with your craft today!

Set time to create
This goes in tandem with the previous point.  Begin to commit and plan time to create or as we learnt in last week’s post – set ‘time to play‘. Start small, but see it big is the principle to remember here. Set time – 5 minutes, 10, 30… the initial time committed doesn’t have to be so much initially.  This will always grow with time as you begin to pour into your craft.

Collaborate to create
Collaborate with others! This will help you keep the momentum and sustain your creativity. You can collaborate with individuals or within a community or a Creative Movement like #CreativeMondays. Collaboration will help spark your creativity and provide a point of accountability and sustainability.

Create Empowering Goals
Create goals that empower you or inspire you to be creative.  In fact dream up a project or projects that would challenge you to ‘bring it’ in creativity.  A good example for a writer would be a book project, or an album for a musician… whatever your trade, dream up a huge project that inspires you to create.

Clarify your passion and purpose
The clearer you are able to see it the better you are able to create it! Often the creative flow is blocked either from several years of disuse or doubt, fear and uncertainty has crop up along the way.  Rediscovering your passion and purpose for your craft and creativity can help greatly in rebuilding this. Getting a coach or a mentor who will help you get clarity or even get unstuck can help greatly in this process.  This worked wonders for me in restoring self believe in my ability to use my writing to inspire and impact others.  Now I can’t create enough! I have been on a creative writing streak like never before over the past almost 120 days… and the Timitude blog continues to grow to inspire others to be creative and live out their potential.
In fact we have just been nominated for the Liebster award – Thank Mou Mishra!

  1. Nike nailed it . Just do it! Stop talking about it Now you have added TODAY. It’s just as good as any other day. So what are you waiting for ? The grass to grow? Good way to see how ridiculous procrastination can be . Spontenaity is a natural form of creativity

    • Thank you so much! The essence of it all is to just get started. And there is no better day or time to start than TODAY….NOW! Spot on… spontaneity is creativity!
